My name is Maria, I’m 32 years old and I’m from the South of England, U.K. Following the loss of a family member and a relationship breakdown, I decided to quit my job in HR, sell everything I owned and follow a life long dream of travelling – and it was the best decision I ever made!
Three years later I’m a qualified TEFL teacher and hope to head back out to Asia to live and work. Travel has given me the strength to carve my own path and live life for myself. Writing gives me that strength too.
I’ve always written poems and verses since I was a child and it’s never been something that I have to think about or make an effort to do. Starting to share my work has been such a positive experience for me as I have suffered with mental health issues in the past and not always been very good at sharing my feelings. Writing is a release as well as an escape for me in that sense.
