Not Just Yet

Not Just Yet by Crimson Noire

There was a split second where
All seemed pleasant, so aware

Screeching tires turned around
Like I had left the ground
Floating without a sound

Head hitting glass
Thought I had passed

That moment all faded away
The universe spared me that day

Awoke to smoke
Started to choke

A British voice said,
“No you’re not dead”.

Scrambling to get me out
I hear others shout

Do you know your name
Or even where you are?
Frantically rescued from fragments of the car

Heard ambulance sirens
So many before

How strange it’s now me
Being carried through the door

Try as I might
Can’t look at the light

Released the same day
To go on my way

Weeks that followed
Not able to walk

Panic attacks flashbacks
Difficulty to talk

Lying, feeling helpless
Pain too much to bear

Didn’t want to witness
All my own despair

Forced myself out of bed
Legs, feet feeling like lead

Like I’ve done my whole life
When faced with strife

Similar to the PHOENIX
Once again, I rise

Like any of you can do
Some words from the wise.

Poetry is my lifelong: Love, Passion and Dedication.
I started writing it at the age of 5. Highly inspired by Dr. Seuss
books that my dear Grandmother read to me. It’s how my
rhyming style first developed.

Originally, my subject matter was mainly: Romance, Love and Heartbreak. But as I read  “The Complete Works of Shakespeare”, at the age of 12. Could comprehend, understand and relate to the themes.
My work matured through each passing year. In my 20’s I was inspired by Edgar Allan Poe, Stephen King
and many Musicians/Poets like: Leonard Cohen, Jim Morrison and Joni Mitchell.
Plus the greats: Maya Angelou, Tennyson, Homer,
Rumi, Kerouac, Sylvia Plath and Emily Dickinson.

I performed my first Spoken Word, on stage, at the age of 21.
And participated in:
Open Mic, Poetry Festival’s & Reading Series.
Admiring and still learning my own style. From watching:
Lydia Lunch, Laurie Anderson, Patti Smith, Henry Rollins,
Shane Koyczan and Sheri D. Wilson.

I’ve been published in local magazines and also a
compilation book. Currently, writing my own Poetry book and creating a website. Both of which will contain all of my
Journals. Other future goals are to record a Spoken Word
Album. And publish 3 Nonfiction books; including
my Autobiography.

Some of my poems are not for the faint of heart. Definitely
worth the read though.
I wish to get my messages of: Hope, Resilience, Courage,
Strength & Positivity. Out to the world, so I can help as many
people as possible: “Rise Above Any Adversity & Challenge” and “Believe to Achieve.” Just like me.
