Home Sweet Home

Home Sweet Home by Frances IsiBoro

Home Sweet Home

I draw strength from the roots as I walk in my homeland
I almost forgot how soft the earth feels under my bare feet
Or how tangy the breeze tastes when it rains here
The rocks wink at me, welcoming me back to this oasis
It seems like a thousand years since I last saw these trees
One thought caresses me now as I stare at familiar trees
And that is, it feels good to be back home

Frances Abhulimen, a Nigerian lawyer who also writes under the pen name Frances IsiBoro, ventured into creative writing in 2019. Two of her poems have been published by Poetry Nation and Poetrynook magazines while one of her short stories is being considered for a movie in Nigeria.

When she is not writing, you can see her bent over a big book. She is currently working on publishing a book, but only if her clingy fiance will allow it.

She loves playing pranks on her fiance, eating chocolate cakes, bumping into harmless objects, laughing uncontrollably, crying while watching movies and cooking.
