On Office Work

On Office Work by Rose Sylvia

Blue light
in my eyes, glazed
over, seeing nothing
Reflecting empty space.
Gray and white and black
and opaque shapes shifting-
but one hundred colored
Rainbows of flowered
fields, floating butterflies
through kaleidoscopic
Meadows, twisting turning hues
Behind the eyes
Seeing nothing and reflecting
Empty space.

Rose Sylvia

Rose, who goes by Meg outside of the writing world, is an attorney based in NYC. She has always had a passion for reading and writing and, recently, poetry has become her most cherished creative escape.

Her greatest writing influences are Sylvia Plath, Carmen Maria Machado, and Flannery O’Connor. When she’s not working or writing, Rose enjoys teaching dance classes and hiking in upstate New York.
