Because

Because by Ashley Howell Bunn

Because the sun is out and there’s life to live

You water your plants

And I feed my sourdough starter

Because it’s nice to watch something grow

And that doesn’t mean that everything isn’t hard

And it doesn’t mean that this is all ok

But the sun is out and we are still here

And sometimes

maybe all the time

This has to be enough

And maybe I just didn’t notice before
