Truth Comes Out

Truth Comes Out by J. Rylee D.

I remember where we were
When I first saw your face
I looked into those grey eyes
And they stole my breath away

I took your hand in mine
And I led you to my room
Both completely lost for words
Our feelings were so brand new

No matter how hard it gets, you’ve never left my side
We’ve been forced to keep our love a secret
And baby, you don’t know how much this kills me
But people don’t like what’s different

So if the truth comes out
Please don’t let us burn down
We’ve worked too hard for this

It might seem like we’re cursed
But I won’t let you get hurt
I’ll hold you tight. I promise

It’s not as easy as it seems
I’ve been warned not to play with fire
That I could lose everything
But for you, I’d walk the wire

I know you never asked for this
And it’s not fair for me to take
But your love changed my world
So there’s a choice we have to make

No matter how hard it gets, you’ve never left my side
We’ve been forced to keep our love a secret
And baby, you don’t know how much this kills me
But people don’t like what’s different

Yeah, the truth will come out
But I won’t let us burn down
No, my heart won’t allow it

It’s the world that’s cursed
I’ll protect you from all the hurt
Our love is too strong. Let’s show it

I’m just a 26-year-old girl who spends her life daydreaming. I have always been an avid reader and writer but recently decided to publish my poetry and a book called “Leading Her From The Darkness” on a public platform, with the hope that it moves or helps even just one person.

My initial reasoning for deciding to self-publish is to bring awareness for trauma survivors, misfits or the LGBTQ community who are at the mercy of their mental health, and letting them know that they are not alone in this world.

I like to portray honest and raw vulnerability in my work because life isn’t always pretty. I want to inspire people to fight for their happiness and to tell their truths, because they deserve to be heard and know that they are believed, and that they matter
