A Lone Warrior

A Lone Warrior by Abira Muhammad

A Lone Warrior

In my hand, I hold a sword
the crimson staining my hands
as it single-handedly saves lives

On this page, stands an army proudly
ready to sacrifice for the truth
firm underneath the crushing stare of the world

In my heart, a melodious voice sounds
as it struggles to convey my pain
in ways to satiate world hunger

I hold the power to make or break someone
and so do you

The Brightest Smiles Hide/Illuminate the Darkest Hearts by Abira Muhammad

When you find yourself in an endless tunnel
Ask her to smile
For the brightest smiles fix the darkest hearts
When she smiles, radiance emanates
Through her eyes, illuminating those in her path

Look at her and she’ll smile
Healing the crack in your heart
Because you know there is some genuine joy
In the world

Her smile hurts her cheeks
While her eyes threaten to leak
The brightest smiles hide the darkest hearts
When she smiles, whatever is left of her soul
Shatters into fragments
Her eyes glow a little less as reality burns through
Knowing less people watch
Many just see
